Blizzcon has floaded our brains with new information this weekend, and there was one I was particularly interested in was the characters remodel. I spend most of my time figuring out which alt I want to create next and let me tell you I spend a lot of time on this. In the shower, at night in bed, while I’m feeding my son. These new models we were promised are exciting but make me uncertain of what to do next.
New planet, new characters. It makes sense.
Since we’ll be living in Draenor for the better part of at least a year or two, it totally makes sense to have an Orc and a Draenei amongst my family of alts. I do not currently have either one of those races, so I need to either create new characters or race change existing characters. With the boost to 90 feature, I need to decide what character I want to suddenly have ready to explore the new world when Warlords of Draenor is released, and which characters I want to actually level while we wait for the new expansion. The new models are making this a bit tricky.
As far as we know, Blizz will not give us any free character customization for existing characters. Whatever they change the models to, that’s what our toons will look like, and we’ll have to pay a fee to change it in the event that we do not like what we see. To avoid having to pay, all new characters I might want to create should wait until the new models are out and available to us, so I can pick the models I like best.
I have nothing solid on this, but I’ve heard that the eight original races from Vanilla will be the first to be worked on, and as the expansion progresses, the Draenei and the Blood Elves will get a revamp as well. I would think the Goblins, Worgens and Pandaren won’t be in need of such an overhaul as they are fairly recent, but the truth is we have no idea. Assuming this is the case the case though, it would make sense to wait before creating an Orc, and instead play one of the more recent races while we bide our time until the expansion goes live. Or at least the beta.
I am still debating this and will most likely not make any final decision before we know more about the beta and the character models. I know that my Orc will probably be either a hunter, a shaman or a warrior. I also know that my Draenei will most likely be a hunter. I’m not a very patient person, but I guess I won’t have any choice but to play the waiting game on this one.
